4Day Work Week Kick Started By No Work Day Swamp?
Maybe it took a deadly pandemic to bring about a 4-day work week. At least, the WSJ suggests as much in its article, “Is A Four-Day Week the Future of Work?”
According to the paper, “Working fewer hours is getting a new look during the pandemic as companies experiment with cures for employee burnout.” Hell, federal employees working in DC have been helping to experiment with the idea for years & have proven they can do as little as possible in 4 days as well as their ancestors did in 5; in fact, better still, after 18 months of pandemic, the city streets are still barren of traffic EVERY day of the week, suggesting the proposed 4-day week for them is really a zero-day week deal. But, that’s another story.
Apparently, we’re told Kickstarter is a “Brooklyn crowd-funding company that plans to allow its employees to clock eight fewer hours over four days for no less pay, as part of a pilot study … the bet is that the shortened schedule will allow workers to juggle work and home life while having more time for personal pursuits.” You know, like DC’s federal employees already do. The CEO argued: “You can’t learn until you start doing it … people are curious what it will look like and if it will work.” Pal, just come to the lockdown-crazed DC aka Ghost Town USA.
