A Vote In Time Saves Sup Ct Nine

In 1937 it was said a shift of one Justice in a critical case ended the move to pack the Sup Ct by Franklin D. Roosevelt so that we got the motto “A shift in time saves nine.” Fast forward to 2024. Now it’s “It’s again time to save the nine,” this time, from a woke Harris.

What a difference in the Rule of Law one day can make as Donald Trump’s landslide victory over Harris helped the GOP to also take back control of the US Senate. It’s that august legislative body, of course, that will confirm Mr. Trump’s Supreme Court as well as Cabinet posts. As GW Prof. Jonathan Turley noted in an “X” post: The election may prove the key moment in ending one of the most threatening periods of the Court’s existence. With the loss of the control of the Senate, the [Democrats’] push for new limits on the court and calls for investigations of conservative justices will subside for now.” So will the pissed progressives obsessed with the Roe v Wade decision temporarily quiet the Democratic idea of stacking the Court.

Unfortunately, as the good professor also points out, “the rage in the media & academia will only likely increase.” If this “woke mind virus” (coined by Matt Kolken) does continue to try and usurp the Rule of Law & democracy it supposedly wants to protect, we can only say “Thank God for the Founding Fathers who thought up the then-novel idea of Constitutional checks & balances … and the common sense of American voters whom Lincoln suggested was the ultimate check on political radicals.
