Abrams’ Jim Crow Election Suit Stymied

Hail to Obama judge who had guts to slap down Stacey Abrams’ lawsuit whining about how Georgia’s balanced election law is “Jim Crow” all over again & will supposedly “steal” 2022 from her conflicted grasping hands …

US District Judge Steve Jones who owed his appointment to Barack Obama had to have been under massive political pressure to “make the right decision” he had been told to make by Georgia as well as national progressives. He had to know he’d be tarred with the “R” card that is so often on Stacey Abrams’ lips. Yet, he recently concluded: “Although Georgia’s election system is not perfect, the challenged practices violate neither the constitution nor the VRA.”

To her credit, a disappointed Ms. Abrams did not go off the deep end & shout “fix,” not that she could have. Abrams instead issued a statement strangely if calmly claiming a trial “victory” for “voters who endured long lines, burdensome date of birth requirements & exact match laws.” Did she mean having to get one’s butt to the polling place on election day & show you are not dead by coming up with the same proof of identity needed to get welfare, withdraw money from a bank account or onto an airplane? Abrams opponent, Gov. Brian Kemp was not quite as generous in his own statement: “Judge Jones’ ruling exposes this legal effort for what it really is: a tool wielded by a politician hoping to wrongfully weaponize the legal system to further her own political goals.” Maybe the voters finally get, then, to decide who’s Georgia’s governor as the Constitution intended?
