Airlines Love Green Skies & Greenbacks?

True or False? Hypocritical as well as friendly skies are taking us for a ride as “Airlines Say They Are Green, but the Industry Fights Rules” that would help air quality but lighten their profits …

At least, that’s what it looks like, the WSJ story suggests, when the airline lobbyists got the UN’s climate effort to offset global warming emissions watered down to save their clients “billions.” Meanwhile, the paper says airlines like Southwest & British Airways have touted their “love” for the planet by “inviting customers to buy carbon credits” for them and Frontier calls itself “Mother Earth’s preferred airline” because it uses less fuel per mile, per seat than any other major US carrier.”

Concluded the debunking newspaper: “The airline industry is a significant producer of the greenhouse gases that [can help] cause [or, at least, contribute to] climate change. Yet, airlines tout green credentials that hardly mitigate their emissions.” Wait. Don’t they distribute bio-degradable napkins with their organic peanuts?
