America Wakes Up To Defeat The Woke

Playwright David Mamet is a cautious optimist as he explains in a WSJ op ed “Decline & Fall of America? Not Yet.” The philosopher waxes, “Trump appears to have broken the codependency of the woke & averted a destructive revolution.”

Not that the Great American Experiment is out of the woods, he cautions, since “half of America [still] not only abides but fervently supports a codependent decline to poverty, crime & a nascent police state. The leftist politicians & their media courtiers & designated beneficiaries profited” too much, too easily from the perks of power & can be expected to be back for more. Nor should we forget that many everyday Americans endorsed them & their fear mongering. Mamet postulates that common folk should have seen the actual threat facing the country “wasn’t global warming, Islamophobia, the Supreme Court, the police, Immigration & Customs Enforcement or Mr. Trump.”

Without letting anyone off the hook, Mamet pointedly calls out the leftists who had commandeered, not only the White House, Congress & bureaucracy, but the MSM & academia as well as corporate America who profited by playing along. For the leftists “To remain unthreatened by reason, the liberal populace” also knew the silent majority, the herd, “had to be convinced to endorse various lies & fantasies.” Start with the notion DEI is right while merit is wrong. Then ponder the Left’s mantras: “Black Lives Matter, Israel’s perfidy, unlimited abortion as a woman’s right, men’s right to compete in women’s sports, the abolition of police, Mr. Trump’s demonic power & so on.” To Mamet, “The horror of the past 4 years … seemed to me the descent into chaos which has been the end of every world power … [While] we know that one day America, as all things, will go one with Rome & Greece. But not today” thanks to real Americans finally WAKING UP.
