Anyone Immune As Pandemic Domestic Violence Up?

Domestic violence is up 25-33% since the Covid lockdowns took effect while we learn of a tragic NC murder-suicide at a private tennis club leaving a divorcing couple, locked in a custody battle, dead. Is anyone immune?

Fox News says the reports of domestic violence increasing so dramatically “since governments put stay-at-home orders in place & limited travel” are based on a study recently published in the American Journal of Emergency Medicine. And, the NC incident may be illustrative of the lockdown’s effect on all classes & age groups. In this case, “a 64-yr-old man allegedly shot & killed a woman at a tennis club in Wilmington … before turning the gun on himself.” Apparently, The Holly Tree Racquet Club “frequently hosts clinics for children” and although no children were hurt during the shooting, the now deceased couple “were going through a divorce … with both of then lodging physical & verbal abuse allegations against each other.” Moreover, according to a local news outlet, custody of their 12-yr-old son was being contested.

As it happens, the other day I was on a crowded DC metro on my way to a Christmas concert and at a downtown stop, a young couple started swinging at one another as if Ali & Frazier, each landing several telling blows while shouting obscenities at one another. The masked passengers, including myself, sat there as the two tumbled out of the car, the doors closed, and the train continued on its way. It happened so fast, there was no time to react. Are the spectators as well as participants getting used to such mental melt downs?
