Atheists’ Prays For Cheap New Cars Ignored
Even atheists are probably praying their old clunkers will last another 3 years as WSJ says “Auto Sales Expected to Slide, Prices to Soar,” even more than they already have as “supply-chain issues continue to roil auto industry.”
General Motors, for one, said it couldn’t deliver nearly 100,000 vehicles in the second quarter because it still lacked computer chips and other parts. They had apparently began building the vehicles during June “without semiconductors” and had to set them aside for delivery later this year rather than ship them to the dealers, presumably because buyers couldn’t drive them off the lot? Yikes.
Already, the WSJ notes, “thin car stocks” had pushed new-car prices to record highs …. The average transaction price in June was projected to reach $45,844, nearly a 15% increase over last June. Meanwhile, sales of new vehicles in the US during the first six month of this year have fallen nearly 17%. Wonder why as monthly payments often soar to $1,000/mo?
