Yet, it took the NYC police union’s leader to remind No. 46 that cops are still “not safe” after he gave yet another pass to Manhattan DA Bragg who, Fox News noted, arguably became infamous for his “soft-on-crime memo in the weeks before the deadly shooting of NYPD Officers Jason Rivera & Wilbert Mora. “

Said Paul DiGiacomo, president of the NYC Detectives’ Endowment Assn, DA Bragg’s “message was sent to the criminal element … that there are no consequences for committing crimes … or resisting arrest … and this is why these cops were shot …” Among other things, Bragg’s memo instructed staff to seek pretrial detention only in “very serious cases” & included a list of low-level offenses his office would no longer prosecute, like resisting arrest, skipping subway fare, prostitution, marijuana offenses & operating a car without a license.
