Biden’s ME Moves Back Stabs Saudis, Shoots Own Foot?

Joe “Shoot Himself In The Foot” Biden has taken 9 short months to roil the USA’s key relationship with abusive Saudis by favoring terrorist Houthis & Iranians, at least, according to WSJ’s “How Biden Lost Saudi Arabia.”

It wasn’t easy, the editors postulate, for “the President’s brand of liberal internationalism” to prove costly, e.g., as Mr. Biden’s pro-Iranian policies have infuriated the Saudis enough to start talking to the Chinese about doing trade deals in yuans rather than dollars. Start with ending US support for the Saudi war against the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen, then, remove terrorist status from the Houthis while trying to renew Obama’s Iran nuke deal the Saudis deem “ghastly”. Go on and postpone a scheduled arms sale to Riyadh so the Houthis can send drones & missiles to attack Saudi oil fields; then, ask the Saudis to give the US more oil to fight inflation in America so the world can be saved from the existential end of the world due to global warming with fossil fuels like … ARABIAN OIL.

The editorial board notes, “Mr. Biden & his advisers say this is all about human rights. They rode into town on a high horse concerning the Riyadh-orchestrated 2018 murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi … that murder was outrageous” and the Saudis’ human rights record is bad for a variety of other reasons. Yet, compared to the Iranians? Houthis? Concluded the WSJ: “More to the point, the US needs every friend it can keep in a difficult part of the world. The high-minded internationalists populating the Biden Administration assume, wrongly, that a power such as America has the luxury of cooperating only with the morally pure.” Hypocrisy gone wild? Possible Exhibit A? Hunter Biden’s laptop & its reference to a 10% cut in a proposed China energy company deal for the “big guy” while Daddy is Veep?
