And, yet without saying so, the WSJ’s editors argue as much in their “Biden Tells a Deficit Fairy Tale” since “Red ink soars in the new fiscal year as spending surges, despite White House claims.” Here’s just the editors’ opening nugget: “President Biden boasted during his State of the Union address about cutting the deficit by a record $1.7 trillion. His putative conversion into a born-again deficit cutter is belied by this week’s Congressional Budget Office federal budget report for January, which shows the deficit has doubled in his first four months of this fiscal year.” Inflation remaining high; entitlement spending exploding; Obamacare subsidies skyrocketing (as Trump trumpeted they would); sweltering Inflation Reduction Act largess without improving the environment or impacting Inflation (except upward); & student loan forgiveness on taxpayers’ dime are cited to debunk No. 46’s take on USA’s state of affairs.

Mr. Biden’s ingenuous plan to solve all these problems we see staring us in the face” that were supposedly “caused by my predecessor”? SPEND STILL MORE ON EVERYTHING! As the editors concluded, “The President is spinning a fiscal fantasy, and that’s if there’s no recession.”
