Biden-Trump & Jesus’ Golden Rule
Thank you, President Biden, for reminding us in your prime-time weekend speeches to the nation that you unselfishly ran for another term to complete your promise to “unify” the nation. Yo, Joe, have you ever seen a more divided country?
Not that we shouldn’t also thank No. 46 for urging calm as well as unity in the wake of the assassination attempt on Donald Trump’s life. Then again, what else could he do after taking the campaign vitriol to new heights? Didn’t we just recently hear No. 46 call for a “bullseye” on the “unfit … rapist”? Surely, Mr. Biden sincerely regrets those ugly digs, if not the contrived & relentless law fare against his political opponent he gave tacit approval to.
Recognizing there is a problem is a good start to solving it of course. But, what a whole bunch of Americans are now going to wait to see … from Mr. Trump as well as Mr. Biden … is that they (and their followers) are going to walk the talk of statesmen going forward. Use the Lincoln-Douglas debates as a model or road map on how to agree to disagree on very important topics Or, just use common sense in dealing with Jesus’ Golden Rule as expressed in His Sermon on the Mount, that is, urging us to simply “do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”
