BS aka MM Is Extinction Activism’s MO?

As world’s population pierced 8B self-appointed experts inevitably argued for & against more human procreation. But was extinction activist telling Dr Phil audience it’s best for them to voluntarily die out a bit much?

Fox News noted Les Knight is the founder of the Voluntary Human Extinction Movement & bills himself as an expert on procreation ethics. But, on a Dr. Phil show he forcefully called on everyone now breathing to voluntarily stop the habit. Stop having kids, too, he advised. Knight essentially says the best if not only way for the biosphere to have a “chance of recovery” is for all of us human polluters to die out. Since humanity can’t adequately feed many of its people, his MO or slogan was cleverly captured in: “Feed ‘em, don’t breed ‘em.”

The New York Times apparently thinks Mr. Knight is a swell guy as well as genius, despite advocating for the end to the human race, comparing his “compassion for people who now exist” ala “Mr. Rogers.” Of course, there are other experts arguing the opposite, i.e., that the world now needs more good rather than fewer bad people. As a UN official was quoted as saying by the WSJ, the 8 billion milestone was an “indicator of humanity’s achievements in medicine, nutrition public health & personal hygiene” while the World Bank has noted the percentage of the world’s population living in poverty has plunged in recent decades … by 47 million every year or 130,000 people each day … among other things, thanks to technological innovation & a globalizing economy. While the ultimate progressive ideologist Knight makes a good point about the need to do a better job of feeding folks, it’s unlikely he has any volunteers. We had a catch phrase for his extreme progressive ideas in the 60s. We called it, “Mental Masturbation.”
