C’mon Man! Italy’s Late Focus On Elderly No Covid Joke
Here’s one from the WSJ that is right for Ripley’s or a Shakespearean play: “Italy’s Covid-19 Vaccinations Bypassed the Elderly & More Are Dying.”
Were Italy’s pols & medics following the “China Solution” to that Communist nation’s burdensome elderly population as some conspiracy theorists undoubtedly will suggest? Of course, not. But, the outrageous (non) Covid treatment of the Greatest Generation in Bella Italia reminds us of the foolishness portrayed in many of Shakespeare’s plays, often set in Italy. Not always to be sure, as the bard saw foolishness as a universal plague on humanity. Recall his Calus, the quack doctor, in Merry Wives of Windsor and Pinch, the exorcist, in Comedy of Errors.
But, we digress. The WSJ piece noted “with a death rate outpacing much of Europe, Italy shifts its focus to get vaccines to older people.” A tad late, you think? And, hard to believe ala that “Believe It Or Not” Book. Consider that Covid’s been in everyone’s face for a year and a half now, known from the get go to especially endanger the elderly…and Italy is only NOW “refocusing” its efforts to help them? Let’s be clear, the U.S. (think, e.g., NY & Gov. Cuomo fiasco) ALSO was often late, late, late in “focusing” its anti-Covid efforts on its elderly and, then, foolishly at times. But, “Yo, Adrienne! C’mon, Man!” This Italian story … is sad on too many levels.
