California & Texas Greenouts & 78 Degree Thermostats

We’re told “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness.” How true. Especially, when understanding energy do-gooders’ befuddling blindness upon reading the WSJ’s, “The California & Texas Greenouts.”

The bad news: “Electric grid operators in Texas & California are again urging residents to conserve power amid a sweltering heat wave to avoid blackouts. Keeping your thermostat at 78 degrees during the summer may be the green new normal.”

Concluded the editors: “Renewables show again that they aren’t reliable to power the grid.” At least, not now, or in the immediately foreseeable future. In fact, The Electric Reliability Council of Texas is warning that “a large number of unexpected power plant outages combined with surging demand is straining the grid.” Meanwhile, California’s Independent System Operator forecasts that “electricity demand might exceed supply several days this week” alone. Déjà vu? Count on the Green team to blame “fossil fuel” inefficiency rather than their own incompetence & Don Quixote switch to renewables before its light switch should have been flipped?
