Can Harris Jiggle or Giggle AG Past?

News reports say Harris’ tough on crime record as prosecutor could complicate efforts to replace Biden as Dem nominee. Criticized bitterly during 2019 Dem primary race, it was one reason she got drubbed when lib votes were counted.

As Lara Bazelon, a University of SF associate prof opined at the time, efforts to paint Harris as a “progressive prosecutor” didn’t match her actions as DA for San Fran, then, California’s AG. Bazelon wrote in the NY Times: “Time after time, when progressives urged her to embrace criminal justice reforms as a district attorney and then the state’s attorney general, Ms. Harris opposed them or stayed silent … Most troubling, Ms. Harris fought tooth & nail to uphold wrongful convictions that had been secured through official misconduct that included evidence tampering, false testimony & the suppression of crucial information by prosecutors.”

And, many thought Harris’ inability to keep from giggling every time she was asked a tough question was the reason voters rejected her candidacy for president. But, if the parallel Fox News coverage of Harris’ point is also right on, she’ll have to try and giggle away the tough questions one more time.
