Can Illegal Aliens Be Paroled in Place?

Lost in all the election campaign news was a federal judge blocking Joe & Kamala’s move to give legal status to as many as a million illegal migrant spouses of US citizens. Yet another unconstitutional immigration fiat needing to be shut down?

According to Fox News, US District Judge Campbell Barker on Monday temporarily stayed the Biden Administration’s “parole in place” program as urged in a lawsuit filed by 16 Republican AGs. The latest end around Congress was announced in June & purports to allow for “humanitarian” parole & a “path to permanent residency for certain illegal immigrant spouses of US citizens without them having to leave the country” & reapply as federal law requires. Texas AG Ken Paxton explained, “Biden’s unconstitutional scheme would have rewarded over 1 million illegal aliens with the opportunity for citizenship after breaking our country’s laws and incentivized countless more” to do the same in the future.

The administration, Fox noted, had estimated that about 500,000 immigrants would benefit & about 50,000 children. The new process would have applied to noncitizen spouses who have lived in the US for 10 years as of June & are judged not to pose a threat to public safety or national security, allowing them a short cut to applying for permanent residency. The court’s stay is temporary, but can be extended or even made permanent, depending upon the further arguments to be presented by both sides in the coming days.
