Can’t Rabbit Ears Biden Save Country Wolves’ Way?

WSJ Columnist Jason Riley asked “Can Biden Avoid Obama’s First-Term Mistake” by resisting the Left’s attempt “to convince…[him]…he has a mandate for progressive change.” Mr. Riley concluded, “He doesn’t.”

The columnist’s history lesson started (and ended) “when Barack Obama and Joe Biden entered the WH 12 years ago” with the economy in recession and unemployment pushing 8%. They & the Dems controlled the House and Senate, too. “Sound familiar?” Mr. Riley wondered. Instead of focusing on ending a decade of stagnation with economic growth (ala President Trump), they listened to their progressive geniuses in advancing an expensive and ineffective one off stimulus, then, took a wild 1K pg shot at “transforming” the entire health care system with an unwieldy and hopelessly insolvent Obamcacare from hell. “The upshot?” The country tanked even more & the Dems eventually lost the WH, Senate & House.

Another history listen we might invoke involved Lincoln’s Team of Rivals. All in his cabinet thought they knew what the country needed to avoid Civil War and/or end the idiocy of slavery. The1860 election supposedly “mandated” their kind of change on their timetable. Secretary of State Seward even advanced an “Albany Plan” in which he and other coastal elites (the wolves) would tell the presumed bumpkin from Illinois (the rabbit) what to do. And yet, within two years Seward would marvel at “how long my ears had grown and how sharp Mr. Lincoln’s fangs had become.” Mr. Lincoln knew better. I ask Mr. Riley, “Why can’t Mr. Biden do it the Lincoln way, the centrist way, rather than the extremist way?”
