Cena’s Guinness Record Wish Come True
Kudos to John Cena who broke Guinness World Record for most wishes realized via Make-A-Wish Foundation. In Italian “Cena” means “dinner” & John gives new meaning to “spreading the bread of life” by serving others …
As Fox Sports noted, the WWE wrestler & actor is the “only celebrity to have granted more than 200 wishes thru Make-A-Wish. Mr. Cena’s made 650 since 2002, in fact, 3 years after beginning his pro wrestling career. He’s become “the most requested celebrity,” having granted the foundation’s 1,000th milestone wish in 2012. But, that’s beside the point. May I suggest it’s the Catholic’s exemplary commitment to serving God by serving others that is. As Mr. Cena told Reuters: “If you ever need me for this ever, I don’t care what I’m doing, I will drop what I’m going and be involved because I think that’s the coolest thing.” BTW, the 16-time WWE (13) & world heavyweight wrestling (3) champ has also been the face of WWE’s “Be a Star” anti-bullying campaign.
Make-A-Wish is a non-profit that aims to fulfill wishes of kids 2-18 who have been diagnosed with critical illnesses. That includes helping them to meet celebrities, attend events or giving gifts to others. John’s known to bring along a championship belt as he fulfills a child’s wish. “I want them to have an experience that will stay with them forever,” Cena reportedly said in 2015 after granting 500 wishes. “I don’t ever want the children or their families to be treated in a way where they feel as if they’re up against anything at all.”
