Chicago’s TRUMP Penthouse Towers Over City, WH?
Donald Trump knows “location, location, location” is everything in real estate. So it’s not surprising an unfinished Chicago Trump Tower penthouse is listed by the current owner for $30M. Hint: Its view of Lake Michigan & Magnificent Mile is breathtaking while rumor has it that on a clear day you might be able to see Notre Dame’s Golden Dome 90 miles away.
Don’t believe the asking price? Ask the international law firm across the street after the Trump Tower’s construction was first announced & it became clear its building’s magnificent view of the lake would be replaced by a magnificent TRUMP sign. The irate partners were so pissed they built their own brand new building several blocks to the west … regardless of price and even though their new panoramic view of the lake was tarnished by dozens of tall buildings to the east instead of just the TRUMP Tower; at least, the reasoning went, that TRUMP sign was not that much in their FACE.
The Chicago Tribune recently noted that the 14,260-sq-ft full-floor penthouse on the TRUMP Tower’s 89th floor still doesn’t match the $45M once asked for a 25,000-sq-ft mansion in Lincoln Park. On the other hand, the current owner says he paid just $17 million in cash for the condo as raw space in 2014, never moved in, but did “complete” the unit with “walls & ceilings.” Mr. TRUMP may no longer be involved in the Chicago skyscraper, but likely still remembers the importance of location as he ponders a return "home" to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
