Can anyone take contrarian view of outrage expressed over news Iowa b-baller Caitlin Clark’s gonna get paid $76K in WNBA this year while NBA rook can haul in $12M … And enjoy the cheap seats before women’s’ sport gets as $ grubbing as men’s?

You may still have seared in your memory this year’s NFL Super Bowl where the cameras showed nothing but millionaires, pols, celebs & hangers on partying in the seats. Long gone are the days when a family of 4 could go to a game at an Ebbett’s Field for $10 to watch Jackie Robinson weave his magic on the diamond. Of course, pro athletes for years were robbed of their rare talent by greedy owners – did Phil Wrigley ever pay HoFer Ernie Banks more than $75K to “play two today” and every day? Yet, since the 1970s, don’t the ever-escalating pro salaries of today make even $75K per game look like chump change?

And, who is paying the ever-escalating price of admission to help pay for the newly enriched privileged few? The average fan. (If not via ticket prices, then, through ever-escalating cable or streaming prices.) That is, assuming this average fan doesn’t have to first mortgage the house? But, not to worry so much about Kaitlin or her presently underpaid female colleagues. As outrageous as this current gross pay disparity is, time is likely also on their side. The Iowa star is already making way more than most fans struggling to earn a living, that is, if you count the hundreds of thousands of dollars she’s getting for telling them to buy State Farm Insurance, wear Nike shoes, eat fattening subs, drink Gatorade, use H&R Block to minimize taxes legally & get lobotomized by shelling out for an Xfinity subscription. Put another way, it’s probably just going to be only a matter of time before there’s nary a man, husband or father who can afford to lick Kaitlin’s or any pro female athlete’s Nikes.
