Co-Sleeping With Infant & SUID Tragedy
Medical experts are sounding alarm about dangers of co-sleeping or sharing a bed with an infant, which may be one cause of sudden unexpected infant deaths or SUID. But, how can Ohio mom deal with TWO such tragedies?
According to Fox News citing CDC stats, 905 American babies died in 2020 due to “accidental suffocation and strangulation in bed. About 3,400 infants younger than age one die in this country suddenly and unexpectedly each year. No immediate obvious cause, the CDC says on its website page for SUID. Yet, many parents invariably suffer unbearable life-long pangs of guilt for something they might have done or maybe should have done, but did not. Co-sleeping is one recipe for possible tragedy.
As Fox notes, Brooke Hunter, a 23-yr-old mother from Cincinnati, Oh, was indicted for involuntary manslaughter & child endangering after a second child of hers was killed due to co-sleeping. Noted Amy Clausing, the prosecutor in the case, “Almost exactly one year before, Hunter had a 6-week-old child who was also [allegedly] killed as a result of co-sleeping.” Beyond belief?
