Covid Carpeting Over Kids’ Casualities

CDC now concedes “main Covid lockdown casualties” were our kids’ health while latest national report card suggests “learning slide for 13-yr-olds makes full recovery unlikely.” Can SOMEBODY in health & academic land explain this fiasco?

As a recent WSJ op ed says, “suicide & homicide rates for young people hit a 20-yr-high,” i.e., as reported by the CDC, the same governmental agency that helped fuel draconian Covid measures in our schools. As the editors opined in almost wincing at the bad news: “The evidence keeps piling up that children were the biggest casualties of the government’s response to Covid.” Then, a separate WSJ article notes how “Average scores on the 2023 National Assessment of Educational Progress … show 13-yr-olds declined four points in reading & nine point in mathematics, compared with 2020.” In math, “it was the largest drop” for that age group in 50 YEARS and “sets up more roadblocks to their success in high school & beyond.”

It's hard not to be infuriated by these scientific-based “outcomes” that were foretold by plenty of average chumbolones, concerned parents & anyone with common sense who could see the near total shutdown of life in and out of our schools during the pandemic was going to badly impact the most vulnerable among us, i.e., the young. Where’s Dr. Fauci’s big mouth now, when we need more of his “insights” to sweep ‘n keep this crap under the carpet?
