Dark Age Fear In Past As Colleges Map Normal Fall?
The good news is “Colleges Begin Mapping Out a More Normal Fall,” says the WSJ. The bad news is that the draconian lockdowns will return IF the fear mongers resurface & convince the supposedly progressive school leaders to ignore the science.
Not going to beat the obvious to death, that being, college kids are among the least likely to have serious repercussions from COVID-19 or that an organized campus setting can be the safest rather than the biggest spreader of this or any disease; i.e., if common sense & teamwork are applied as religiously as the cop-out finger-pointing lockdown mania we saw last year. Says the WSJ: “After months with virtual classes and sparsely populated dorms, schools…say they expect to return to mainly face-to-face classes for the 2021-22 academic year. [Yet] the forecasts are couched in disclaimers in case the institutions decide to pivot back online.”
Pivot back online? Like the cowardly lions many of these institutions have proven to be instead of thought leaders they are supposed to be? Fortunately, there ARE some schools like Notre Dame that have navigated the pandemic responsibly, safely, while it concedes “life entails risks”. Hopefully, such enlightenment rather than Dark Age fear will prevail with the other "institutions of learning" come September.
