Democrat Genius Fuels Minority Switch?

Is it time for yet another rebranding of terms “liberal” & “progressive” as they are failing to hoodwink minorities voting for GOP in increasing frequency? Suggestion: Try “Genius” since they insist they are right, others are evil.

The suggestion was actually made in the WSJ op ed by Jason Riley titled, “Minority Support for the GOP Crept Up again in the Midterms.” As Mr. Riley notes, his colleague James Freeman recently wrote that the term “progressive” might be falling out of favor with some Democrats” as did the term “liberal” in the 1980s after it became synonymous with “smear.” According to the midterm exit polls cited by Politico, Hispanic and Asian support for the constantly vilified GOP jumped 10 and 17 points respectively [compared to 4 years earlier] while Black voters shifted about 4 points to the right.”

As Riley warns: “Democrats continue to pay a price for catering to upscale white progressives while giving short shrift to the concerns of their minority base. Increasingly, these neglected voters see the GOP as a viable alternative [Dem Identity propaganda notwithstanding]. The Asian and Hispanic shares of the electorate are growing. Democrats can bleed only so much minority support, particularly in battleground states and swing districts, and still win elections.” The big turn off? The know-it-all policies behind the liberal and progressive labelling, like defunding police (and everyone’s safety), opposition to parental choice in school (and blind support of politicized unions), and expanding the welfare state (as well as dependency and poverty). In sum, it’s these kinds of policies which, in reality, “undermine upward mobility among the very groups they claim to champion.” Ingenuous?
