Dems’ Hail Marys Dispiriting Their Radicalized Base?

Newt Ginrich opined “Biden & Dems’ devotion to hopeless policies is like watching “Groundhog Day” without the fun. One explanation for the failure rate is that many liberal ideas at first blush sound desirable & plausible, yet in the real world they melt faster than Joe Biden’s vanilla ice cream cone on a Hot August Night.

Extreme ideas like extreme weather will wilt things like that. What got Newt riled was last week’s “spectacle in Atlanta” in which Joe & Co. suggested anyone is a segregationist who doesn’t go along with their plan to unconstitutionally federalize all elections, aka ensure THEIR one-party power. He says taking ridiculous positions like that sets them up, instead, to be “trapped” in a kind of time warp as well as logic. “Watching Biden, VP Harris, Senate Majority Leader Schumer & House Speaker Pelosi is a lot like watching Bill Murray’s” film … “Each day they wake up having forgotten the previous day’s frustrations and failures and repeat whatever hopeless strategy they have stubbornly adopted.)” In the case of their election reform Hail Mary, Gingrich argued, recent polls show American’s overwhelmingly rejecting it, e.g., “81% support voter ID laws, and that includes 77% of African American voters … [while even] 67% of Democrats” support some kind of voter ID legislation.

Meanwhile, the National Journal’s Josh Krashauer seemed to echo Gingrich’s premise: “With Biden unrealistically raising expectations to supporters [aka his minority base] only to face an inevitable political reality, it creates a worst-case situation for [all] Democrats. They’re dispiriting [them] by making promises they can’t keep.”
