Dems’ Rush Operation Warp Speed 2.0?

Did Dems & public health allies denounce Trump for “rushing” Covid vaccines to market but are strangely quiet about FDA’s gunshot approval last week of revamped booster shots with no trials showing they are safe or effective?

Hard pill to swallow, if true? But, that’s the premise of Allysia Finley’s WSJ op ed titled, “Look Who’s Rushing Covid Vaccines Now.” Never mind, btw, that Mr. Trump’s idea behind his “Operation Warp Speed” was NOT to rush any med in terms of trials or reliable stats on safety or effectiveness, but simply to get the FDA and pharma off their sorry butts, do their jobs with far less unnecessary red tape designed to cover those rear ends and cut the “to market” time from 4 or more years to 2 or less. To be fair, Ms. Finley writes, “The FDA is in a tough spot.” The Biden Administration ordered 171 million doses earlier this summer “so FDA authorization” for an emergency green light “seems to have been a fait accompli … The FDA probably should have made the reconfigured vaccines [now targeting “Wuhan variants”] available to high risk and elderly patients. But the case is weak for young people, given the limited benefit and uncertain risks.”

Yes, it’s a tough task. But, recall how Joe insisted the problem with Trump was that he “doesn’t have a plan” while he did. Some plan? To really rush vaccines to market?
