Dems Welcomed to City of Stooped Shoulders

Chicago may still be “My Kind of Town” but it’s no longer in my eyes “The City of Broad Shoulders” as Windy City progressives demand the DNC’s August Convention be cancelled to cancel out “genocide Joe.”

WTH? As the WSJ’s editorial board recently wrote: “For a preview of the fun that awaits President Biden at the Democratic National Convention in August, get a load of [last] week’s spectacle” there. “Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson is defending an alderman who spoke at a rally in favor of canceling the DNC. The story began March 22, when a group called Behind Enemy Lines organized a protest near Chicago’s City Hall. The group says its purpose is to ‘stop the US-Israel War Machine & keep “Genocide Joe’ Biden out of Chicago. For the solemn moral occasion, the group organized a protest in which a veteran burned an American flag & Chicago Alderman Byron Sigcho-Lopez spoke afterward behind the charred remnants,” if supposedly ignorant of the smoking embers behind his shifty feet.

The goofy “First Amendment & Free Speech” details later mentioned in the op ed are besides the point to this Baby Boomer who witnessed the insane “war protests” staged by the Chicago 7 during the 1968 DNC convention & that will forever live in political infamy. One of my favorite televised moments was Abby Hoffman loonies hurling dog manure at Machine Mayor Daley’s mounted police along “The Magnificent Mile, then, running for their lives into beautiful Grant Park where they were trampled around the Lincoln statue there. Another was a line of those police comrades in riot gear & armed with batons on Michigan Avenue daring the taunting mob to come just a little bit closer to make their day. Suggestion: Get the buttered popcorn ready when easing into your chair to watch this year’s Convention on tv, i.e., if today’s MSM has the honesty to televise what’s going on outside.
