DeSantis: Trump Ate Fauci's Smelly Cheese

Did you notice during early stages of the pandemic pressers how Dr. Fauci stood behind No. 45 looking & fidgeting like a Disney cartoon rodent munching on some cheese while watching his boss twist? DeSantis says, “Never again …”

As the Fla & unannounced presidential candidate told a GOP leadership conclave, real Commanders in Chief “don’t subcontract out their leadership to health bureaucrats like Dr. Fauci.” DeSantis earlier told pundit Piers Morgan: “I would have fired somebody like Fauci. I think he got way too big for his britches & I think he did a lot of damage.” Fox News notes that dumping on Fauci could also be seen as a swipe at then-President & announced candidate Donald Trump.

Belatedly & without admitting it now, Mr. Trump would probably have agreed with Mr. DeSantis’ sentiment, i.e, that over-relying on a career bureaucrat is done at an elected leader’s own peril. As Fox recalls, Mr. Trump eventually, if too late, DID “call out the health leader & his colleague, Dr. Deborah Birx, for their ‘bad policy decisions’ in 2021.” Frankly, as I watched those Trump Covid pressers with Fauci on the stage, I wondered if No. 45 couldn’t smell the rank aroma emanating from a few feet away. He surely wouldn’t want to make the same mistake again.
