Did Joe Recall Little Corporal or Get Trumped?

Did Joe’s SOU “him or me” speech fall as flat as King Louis’ similar choice given to French Citizens after he & allies banished Napoleon, only to be confronted upon his escape from Elba with Jack Nicholson’s iconic “I’m Baaaack!” from an advancing Trump?

The Democrats, of course, loved the litany of new government spending ideas Mr. Biden doled out from the dias. But, even before a cantankerous, finger-pointing & disingenuous No. 46 declared “the State of the Union is strong,” WSJ’s Daniel Henninger explained why such bravura was delusional in his “Joe Biden’s Unhappy State of the Union.” According to Dan, “The Democrats have allowed too many negative feedback loops to develop [and] The president gets the blame.” Much as a returned Louis got in 1815? Or, No. 45 got, fairly or not, in 2020? Let the columnist count the ways Mr. Biden’s policies & “track record” (not just his “cognitive decline”) are setting him up for a potential drubbing in November ala the Bourbon (not the whiskey guy). Opines Dan, “The reality could be that Mr. Biden simply doesn’t have it – the magic that makes a person presidential in the public’s mind.” While Joe recently called Trump “a loser”, Dan reminds how Joe’s past has been littered with failed presidential campaigns … until The Wuhan Flu came along. Then, says Dan, it’s not the “economy” but our “negative culture, stupid.” You know, the fact that today’s woke & unwoke alike would be expected to bitch at the Second Coming?

Then, Henninger adds, is the real world people outside the Swamp bubble are living in: “All brand name products in drug stores … behind lock & key,” “cities filled with mentally ill homeless,” progressive policies ALSO driving family-run restaurants out of business, and while Joe did “next to nothing,” about 4 million border encounters with illegal immigrants wading across the Rio Grande the past 2 fiscal years … while “border patrol officers dutifully struggle with this human catastrophe.” Not as strong a sight as Joe wishes we saw. This was no JFK let alone Comeback Kid Clinton.
