DINKs Dominate Or Cruising For Bruising?

Talk about a limited mind set? Every 10 years or so MSM recycles narratives about how many in young generation are embracing the “me-first” life style, this time, about how couples are lovin’ not only McDonald’s, but what’s now called the “DINK” label.

So says the recent WSJ article relating how “The ‘dual income no kids’ moniker is suddenly everywhere, and the lexicon has ballooned to include DINKWADS, SINKS & DINOs.” As one DINKer told the paper, “Being DINKs means we just have a lot of freedom, time & money.” We’re told the typical 25-yr-old content creator is open to having kids one day, but only after “building a net worth of $1 million by age 30.” Of course, many of us fools in the earlier generations also entertained such fanciful thoughts without much thought given to the traditional mundane altruistic ideals behind family, community, & country, let alone a commitment to such things as charity & faith in a Creator grander than ourselves. And, we used to call them “delusional,” “narcissistic,” “daydreamers.”

While a handful like an Elon Musk may seem to get away with the “I can have it all” mantra, the reality is that millions will wake up one day to come to the SAME CONCLUSION their family-oriented peers have come to, only much earlier: Life is not a bowl of cherries, even for the rich and famous.
