DOL Stats: Joe’s Prosperity Ain’t Round Corner

Always cautious WSJ doesn’t assure from latest “disappointing” DOL numbers that more not less inflation lies ahead as Biden doubles-down on his inflationary policies, but it trashes his insisting prosperity’s just around the corner.

In its “Inflation Stays in the Heights,” the editorial board concludes: “The [Biden] policy mix of blowout government spending & easy money is punishing workers … that family vacation is going to be a lot more expensive this summer. Bring a tent.” How expensive? The editors note the obvious jump in gas and food prices in recent days, then, cite troubling stats that “service prices [also] seem to be accelerating.” They suggest we check out the cost of a hotel before checking in. In addition, there’s the “pipeline blockages” triggering those shortages of everyday items like baby formula Joe says are easing, yet the DOL stats say those costs in delivering them now appears to be baked into the prices; so that, if anything, they will likely continue to ADD to spiraling costs, not lower them. Without saying it, then, the WSJ editors are suggesting the odds of Joe “taming” inflation anytime soon sound more like inflation “trouncing” Joe by the November elections.

Meanwhile, despite Joe & the MSM crowing about the latest DOL stats, which really show a “disappointing easing of inflation LAST month,” i.e., by a paltry .02 or .03%, the editors are sort of predicting next month’s numbers are going to AGAIN show Joe’s inflation plan as more the cause of inflation than anything. And, as such, it’s the working folks who are going to suffer more than Joe can even imagine when reading the teleprompter.
