Don’t Pass Gas As Heating Bill Arrives
If your home’s heated by natural gas forget its history of cheaper than electricity billings. The woke transition to alt energy without the goods could make you go broke. Future natural gas prices may be anything but natural …
At least, so suggests the WSJ piece trying to explain “Why Gas Bills Are Going Crazy – With No End in Sight.” It seems the supply of natural gas has been repeatedly disrupted in the last year. And, that’s thanks largely to the blue states’ & the Biden Administration’s policy of forcing the retirement of fossil-fuel energy plants through increased & costly laws & regulation, but WAY before any alt energy replacement plants can go on line, if ever (i.e., assuming the sun keeps shining & wind keeps blowing in sufficient quantities). As a result, the WSJ notes, “Homeowners & businesses across the country have seen their gas bills go wild – Last year was the most volatile on record for natural gas, boosting the cost to heat homes, generate electricity & manufacture economic building blocks such as fertilizer & steel. Prices in 2022 whipsawed from unseasonable lows to shale-era highs & back again.”
The bottom line: “… the turbulence isn’t going to calm down anytime soon,” AND you can expect the cost of natural gas to soar at times to more record highs. For instance, an Emily Hodge in Colorado was shocked by a nearly $918 bill for heating & electricity in December, almost double from a year earlier.” Having owned a number of homes in the Chicago area, I always had followed the conventional wisdom of making sure to buy a Home Sweet Home that came with natural gas heating & air conditioning since the cost could nearly half its electric powered counterpart. Not anymore, folks.
