EV Charging Woes As Hell Freezes Over

Is climate telling EV industry who’s in charge? WGN-TV reported Chicago-area Tesla charging stations were lined with long queues during the recent deep freeze while a Fox affiliate saw “A bunch of dead robots out here.”

Said Tyler beard, who had been trying to recharge his Tesla at an Oak Brook, Illinois Tesla supercharging station: “Nothing. No juice. Still on zero percent … And this is like three hours being out here after being out here three hours” THE DAY BEFORE. Those in sunny California who led the mandated EV conversion without giving a thought to adequate infrastructure might be tempted to say “Welcome to our world,” as MSM there have long famously reported on the joys of dealing with indecently long lines waiting to get charged in sweltering temperatures. Then again, California progressives can never admit to the hell they & their pols are creating for everyone.

Meanwhile, the WSJ editors bemoaned “The Politicized EV Charger ‘Revolution’”, in which “the feds are throwing billions of dollars to build charging stations, but they’ve added” so many “social justice & union mandates that make the build-out more complicated than is necessary.  That’s a kind way to put it. In fact, “despite the $2 billion of subsidies already authorized [by Uncle Sam], only two federally funded stations have opened. States are in charge of administering the program … But about half haven’t even begun taking bids from contractors, much less put shovels in the ground.” In short, “the barrier isn’t technological … [but] … the bureaucrats are getting in their own way.” Yet, didn’t we all know this was more predictable than the unpredictable weather?
