EV Mandate, Hey Hey Ay, Good-bye

President Trump declared in his inauguration speech Biden’s “EV mandates are dead” so you will be “able to buy the car of your choice.” California fires are likewise essentially, if ironically, mandating an “End of the Climate Delusion.”

As WSJ columnist Holman Jenkins recently wrote, even many liberals as well as average voters in the wake of the LA disaster “wake up from the dream that green pork is a solution.” Exactly what IS the problem, you might ask? Clarifies Jenkins: “C02 emitted into the atmosphere is rapidly and uniformly distributed around the planet” so that “emissions cuts in California [or anywhere else in America] don’t have any significant effect on California climate,” let alone anywhere else in the world. The sad reality, then: “California cuts are … largely illusory.”

Moreover, Jenkins reminds, the corollary to that truism is that the ever ballyhooed “Green-energy subsidies DO NOT reduce emissions." He opines, “This will be news to millions of California voters,” although “it isn’t news to the actual [demagogue] enactors of these subsidies.” As a National Research Council study sponsored by congressional DEMOCRATS concluded way back in 2008, such handouts were a “poor tool for reducing greenhouse gases.” They called for carbon taxes instead. Meanwhile, what do we have left of the Green New Deal Mr. Trump said is now dead-on arrival? Drill, baby, drill and the American-built car of your choice.
