EV Woes Mount Faster Than Horse In Heat
EV owners laughing or crying? WSJ’s Holman Jenkins opines how “GM’s not telling truth” about EV’s woes due to “delusional” US energy & climate policies, then, paper runs story about many EVs conking out due to dying batteries.
At the heart of the larger problem, the columnist writes, is that “government must always be seen doing something” after they hawk “nonsense ideologies, even when spoken purely for effect.” The ritual, he suggests, always winds up “made a game of in government programs” (like huge EV subsidies) that create more problems than they solve. Case in point says Holman is the Detroit automakers being made “permanently dependent on artificially inflated pickup profits to subsidize loss-making electric vehicles served up as a gesture by the political class … The resulting program, the Biden DOT. was legally obligated last year to admit, fails any cost-benefit test. Climatewise, the truth is even sadder,” he argued, since “dollar for dollar, subsidizing EVs for Americans is a subsidy to the rest of the world to use more fossil energy & cause more emissions, a reality that can’t escape political notice forever.”
Oh, it’s not that the Swamp, MSM & activists aren’t trying their darndest to hear, see & speak no evil of their climate religion, er, ideology. Another WSJ story details how “The relic from gas-engine cars (i.e., the 12-volt battery) is dying unexpectedly in some newer EVs, causing vehicles to shut down … Turns out, the problem’s [not] with the main [lithium] batteries, but the smaller, low-voltage one – the kind that has been found under the hood for decades.” WHATEVER. The EV problems, it seems obvious to anyone but the elites, speeds onward: Four or five figure battery replacement costs. Lithium fires from hell. Sparsity of charging stations. Inflated “range” estimates. Ya da, ya da. Joe’s EV for a horse?
