“Family” Pit Bulls Maul Tykes 2 Death
One of the most heart-breaking stories for a parent & dog lover to report is the one about 2 family pit bulls mauling Tenn toddlers to death while badly injuring mom as she desperately tried to pull her dogs off her beloveds.
The sad but necessary moral may have something to do with common sense & risk taking with family dogs guarding little ones, especially new borns. I recall from my own experience how my friendly, happy-go-lucky English Sheep Dog suddenly turned rebellious & destructive when I brought twin new borns home from the hospital. He literally started eating furniture & running away. While uncharacteristically ignoring my babies, he never harmed them, thank God. And, finally, after yet another “jail” break, he one day never returned. But when I look back and read stories about this Tennessee horror, I wonder if my really large, bummed-out dog was an unnecessary risk for my family, even if a really small risk.
Fox News says the two murdering family pit bulls “had never been aggressive” in the EIGHT YEARS they had them. I have no doubt they never had shown clear signs of being able to do what they did to the 30-yr-old mom’s 5-month-old and 2-year-old babies. “I can promise you those children were [the mom’s] world, said a shattered best friend, Kelsey Canfield. “If there was any inkling of danger, she would have never had those dogs near her kids.” If there’s the slightest positive here, it’s that WE now know better …
