FBI’s Fantastic Confidential Source Program
First, the FBI soiled itself by using the fantastic Steele Dossier to smear Donald Trump, now, for some reason, Dems & MSM allies are doing a victory lap over the indictment of informant Alex Smirnov for allegedly fabricating dirt on the Bidens.
The Q is: Does anyone notice something is rotten in the whole “FBI confidential human source program”? The WSJ’s Kimberley Strassel does in her column “Sifting Through FBI’s Garbage,” especially after the Smirnov fiasco in reality suggests “nothing good about the bureau.” Explained the columnist: “There’s a lesson for informants (and politicians) everywhere in the Alexander Smirnov story: If you are going to lie to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, make sure it’s a lie the FBI wants to hear.
But, of course, “That’s not the story the media is telling about the arrest of Mr. Smirnov, the FBI ‘confidential human source indicted last week for allegedly fabricating claims that Joe & Hunter Biden received bribes from a Ukrainian energy firm … The press … is instead using the revelation to slather egg all over the faces of congressional Republicans who highlighted those claims as part of their investigation of the Biden family business. The better question: Does the FBI apply anything beyond politics to its disaster of a confidential source program?”
