Fear Pols & Weathermen As Much As Global Warming

Chicago’s fear mongering weathermen on Jan 1 warned of an apocalypse snow storm that fizzled to prove the more climate changes in the panicking Windy City the more the political climate stays the same, at least, if the 1979 storm that got Jayne Byrne elected mayor proved anything. Days later In No. Va, the forecasters issued a dire winter storm warning but the progressive pols did nothing so hundreds of freezing people got stuck on an expressway for up to 19 hours ...

First, the back story to the Chicago news. Those of us living in Chicago on January 13, 1979 including Greg Opelka writing about it in the WSJ, recall how 20.3 inches of the white powder fell on the city, while the TV weathermen had thought 2 inches would fall, 4 tops. Folks also forget that the previous winter more than 85 inches of snow had fallen on Chicago & residents, who had never heard the words “global warming” were in an ugly mood to begin with. The incumbent & supposedly safe Democratic Mayor Bilandic AGAIN failed to remove the mountains of snow from the streets promptly & his irate Democrats smoked him in the next primary by voting for Byrne faster than an Irish Catholic voting against the Queen of England. Even to this day, Chicagoans will vote for their incompetent Democrats, even as gun deaths pile up on the city’s streets, but turn on them like locusts if the snow ain’t plowed.

But fearful progressives are fearful anywhere, including my new home in a DC burb, Falls Church, Va. Several inches of snow fell here the other day & a major expressway a few miles away was shut down during the evening rush hour; scores of motorists were stranded THROUGH THE NIGHT & MORNING. It’s famously true that since the beginning of time DC & No. Va. shuts down every time an inch of snow hits the ground; yet the progressive governor, who allegedly wore black face when a med student-actor, saw the winter storm warnings issued by the local meteorologists but did nothing to avoid the debacle that unfolded. A day later & the progressive media is predictably filled with fears global warming, not the pale-faced gov, is the culprit. Well, rising temps probably IS a factor, but sitting in your electric car for 19 hours thanks to the stiff you voted for ain’t gonna solve anything, nor will No. 46's raising the price of leaded gasoline to $3.99/gal.
