Feverish Swamp Imperialists Even Ban State Tax Cuts?

Can you believe a political party BANNING states from CUTTING TAXES for 3 years? That’s what the WSJ says the Dems have done in the new $1.9 trillion dollar pork, er, COVID relief & stimulus law they just rammed through.

“Democrats are trying to ban states from cutting taxes with a sneaky amendment to the…so-called COVID relief package,” said GOP Sen. Mike Braun in a press release announcing his own bill to rescind that proviso. “Not only did this blue state bailout bill penalize states for reopening (their locked down economies) by calculating state funds based on unemployment, now they are trying to use it as a back door to ban states from cutting taxes.” In short, penalize the well-run states & enable the poorly run states?

Pretty hard to fathom that kind of chutzpah let alone policy foolishness. Yet, as the WSJ editors noted, the biggest danger in the future is hereby establishing the precedent for “Washington Imperialists” in CONGRESS to more often (and unconstitutionally?) tell STATES how to run themselves.
