Field Of Dreams Censorship A Radical’s Nightmare?

There’s a scene in W.P. Kinsella’s iconic “Shoeless Joe” novel (turned into the movie Field of Dreams), in which a liberal Berkeley grad from the 1960s defends a liberal writer & author of “The Boat Rocker” against conservative parents who want to ban the book from an Iowa farm community’s schools. Of course, if today’s Hollywood were honest, we’d now see a flick featuring a cancel culture liberal du jour bitterly attacking a conservative writer & author of a book with the same title and demand it be banned from Berkeley.

Yet, the 1960's Field of Dreams anti-censorship message is arguably still relevant in 2021. One excerpt of Annie Kinsella’s cogent speech before a packed auditorium in the flick:

“Terence Mann (the to be banned author) was a voice of reason during a time of great madness. He coined the phrase ‘Make peace, not war.’ Where others were chanting ‘Burn, baby burn,’ he talked about love, peace and understanding…”

Too bad today’s most radical liberals and coastal elitists don’t always practice what they (once) preach(ed)?
