Gaetz Real. Rosty Roasted, But Swalwell Tips Fang Fang

Somehow it seems to be getting harder to prosecute corrupt politicians, but easier to hate some of them. Fox’s Tucker Carlson recently noted, for instance, how Cal. Congressman Eric Swalwell was promoted to the House Intel Cte after an extra-marital affair with a “Chinese Spy named Fang Fang” & allegedly spending thousands of campaign contribution dollars on … himself. GOPer Matt Gaetz under investigation for alleged sex trafficking with the help of donations is another creepy tale in the works.

And yet, as Chicago NBC once told it, the city’s powerful Dan Rostenkowski went to jail in disgrace circa 1995 for (drum roll) “bending the rules & dishing out favors to friends & family… [including] cashing stamp vouchers from the House Stationary Store.” Mind you, Mr. Rostenkowski was Chairman of the House Ways & Means Cte & was a masterful tax expert who helped President Ronald Reagan launch the then-struggling economy into orbit. Over a 36-year political career representing the city’s northwest side & largely Polish community, he worked with 9 presidents to pass one hell of a lot of progressive legislation. Even detractors would concede, “Danny” may have been one of the most effective (if feared) congressmen in U.S. history. And, still he was forced to plead to two stinking counts of “mail fraud” before being sent to 17 months in a stinking federal prison up in Cheeseland.

I’ll never forget my one run in with Mr. Rostenkowski. I was a young lawyer returning from federal court in downtown Chicago when I rear-ended his truck on the expressway. Gentlemanly, Mr. Rostenkowski wanted to know if I was ok and without blinking took care of the repairs. The point is, he was a pure problem & ended up in a cheesy clink. Meanwhile, do nothing guys like Swalwell & Gaetz are free to keep stinking up Capitol Hill.
