Gang Thieves A Thumb In Everyman’s Eye
Raised on Chicago’s South Side this chumbolone knows gangs. So no surprise here when one MSM outlet FINALLY pegs “runaway theft” at nation’s retail outlets on organized gangs while progressive city pols suck thumb.
Years ago, I saw how retailers regularly in Sweet Home Chicago had to close their stores in high-crime areas to reduce losses, thereby robbing honest citizens of places to buy groceries, medicines & other necessities. As a recent WSJ op ed notes, “progressives who run these cities blame the companies, but any CEO has to reduce losses that cost shareholders HALF A BILLION DOLLARS A YEAR. Readers of a certain age probably [& the more naïve MSM outlets] think of retail theft as individual acts of shoplifting. But today a growing threat is from organized retail crime. Gangs plan their raids on retail stores, warehouses & trucks or rail hubs [ala Al Capone’s earlier Outfit]. The goal isn’t personal consumption. It’s to resell the stolen goods at a profit, often over the internet [where] gangs have extensive networks of thieves & fences.”
The editors rightly argue “all of this will get worse until voters stop tolerating the politicians who indulge criminals.” But, one might also ask if the WSJ isn’t still being a tad naïve itself in not pegging at least some of these suspect “politicians” as being more than merely “indulgent” of criminal gangs, and “on the take” themselves?
