Great People Can Come In Short Sizes

Life can be a bitch for all. But DC’s Elliot in the Morning asked listeners how 22-yr old Shauna Rae deals with hers at under 4 ft tall with face of 8-yr old due to chemo for brain cancer when 6 months old? Class, courage & TLC?

The network’s “I Am Shauna Rae” reality show may provide some answers but many as well as Elliot were taken aback by this woman’s je ne sais quoi. Not that her story is entirely unique, despite the young kids coming up to her at the beach & asking her to come play with them; or, adults staring disapprovingly at her and her 22-yr old boyfriend walking amorously arm-in-arm down the street as if Meaghan & Harry. So many of us have some kind of physical, emotional or even spiritual limitations that try our souls. But, it’s hard not to cheer this young woman on her particular life’s journey that's nothing short of inspiring.

All I can even begin to relate to in re Shauna is having been the smallest boy in my grammar school … I had to look up at even the smallest girl … until a summer growth spurt made me look down on all but one or two of my classmates. The new stature was liberating, but I frankly never entirely overcame the complex(es) drilled into me by you can imagine what. I can only imagine the best for Shauna.
