Green New Pork Roast on EPA’s Menu?

Libs are frantically using lawyers to block the Trump EPA’s cancelling of some Green New Deal deals, we’re told, on “constitutional” grounds. But, aren’t they trying to hide how their multi-billion dollar slush fund worked unconstitutionally?

How ironic, the WSJ’s editorial board suggests, that liberal groups have filed a lawsuit against Trump’s EPA and it may yet boomerang by exposing their “Dark Climate Money” fund created & greased by the Biden Administration. They wax: “Imagine if Republicans gave the Trump Administration tens of billions of dollars to dole out to right-wing groups to sprinkle around to favored businesses. That’s what Democrats did in the Inflation Reduction Act or IRA. The Trump team’s effort to break up this spending racket has led to a court brawl, which could be educational.” But, they warn, the taxpayers of America won’t like the lesson in political chicanery. It all started when the EPA’s new chief Lee Zelden cancelled a bunch of these handouts. Yet, “in one example, the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund director Jahi Wise oversaw a $5 billion grant to his former employer, Coalition for Green Capital. The Biden EPA awarded another $2 billion to Power Forward Communities, an umbrella group of climate outfits that was formed in 2023 supposedly to ‘finance home energy efficiency upgrades.’ But the IRA [already] includes tax credits & other grant programs.”

Argue the editors, the real purpose of these & other like payments to third parties “is to spread taxpayer funds to progressives” while “preventing the agency or Congress from overseeing how the funds are spent.” That “subcontracting” alone, they opine, is of questionable Constitutional validity since Congress’s “spending power” was never intended to be delegated to such “third parties.” Concluded the WSJ: “But if liberal groups want to defend in court their right to taxpayer dollars, Americans might find it instructive to discover how the Biden Administration’s Green New Deal really Worked.”
