Harris’ DNC Protester Catch-22

A gaggle of Anti-Israeli protesters chanted “genocide” as Kamala Harris spoke at SF’s Fairmont Hotel, where Tony Bennett introduced “I Left My Heart.” But will a horde of Hamas lovers be at DNC’s convention in Chicago to break our VP’s ambition as well as heart?

That’s the question asked by WSJ columnist William McGurn as a coalition of pro-Hamas radicals reportedly continue to promise to ruin “Killer” Kamala’s coming out party. According to McGurn, “tens of thousands of activists will be in town … to hold Ms. Harris to account for the Biden administration’s policy in Gaza, where they accuse Israel of ‘genocide’ against the Palestinian people.” A statement from the March on the DNC 2024 insisted “Democratic Party Leadership switching out their presidential nominee does not wash the blood of over 50,000 Palestinians off their hands.”

For her part, Harris has been about as effective as Biden in waffling back & forth between fully backing US ally’s war against Hamas & urging restraint. McGurn notes her stump speech … trying to shush protesters at her rallies with a “keep it up, if you want a President Trump” … is landing with a loud thud: “The problem is that the protesters don’t believe deflecting to Donald Trump is any kind of answer to their concerns about the VP’s complicity in 'genocide.'” A classic Catch-22 for Harris? Either start talking like you are kissing off the Jews or kiss off the Palestinians & that coalition of far lefties that includes: Code Pink, the Democratic Socialists of America & the US Palestinian Community Network. There are other angry groups like BLM planning to March for other causes. As McGurn notes, the protesting groups say they’ll be “peaceful.” But, he quickly suggests they tell that to the university presidents, where campus protests turned into riots.
