Hollywood To Binge On New Old Westerns & PC BS?

The WSJ recently ran a story on “Hollywood Renews Love for Westerns – Good, Bad, Binge-Worthy” & the big mystery is how the woke leftists who control it will reconcile real history with today’s progressives’ mind-bending PC, environmental & critical race mania.

For instance, we’re told, “studios are betting a genre as ‘American as apple pie’ is resonating with pandemic audiences. Viacom CBS [for instance] is developing a ‘Yellowstone’ spin-off while Netflix is drawing on actor Idris Elba.” Wonderful. Mr. Elba may be a fine black British actor, but let’s also remember he’s into wokeness like most sucking up to tinsel town. Most recently, Yahoo Entertainment breathlessly relates how Elba is starring in Universal’s “Beast” filmed in South Africa, home to you know who white beasts. He “stars as Dr. Nate Samuels, a widower who returns to South Africa…but what begins (with his 2 teen daughters) as a journey of healing jolts into a fearsome fight for survival when a rogue (aka man-eating) lion, a survivor of blood-thirsty poachers who now sees all humans as the enemy, begins stalking them."

Hollywood has been known to make crud sound like shinola but most folks know crud when they see it. As for the Western revival streaming services are looking at, it may take a Moses-like miracle to pull it off with some hopelessly privileged whites. Can you imagine a Yellowstone knock off with a Kevin Costner look alike pretending how, in even a present day Wild Wild West, the rough necked, no BS characters handle today's PC tongue twisters like African Americans, LGBTQers & Native American Indians not from India?
