Homeless Now Living In Park Ave Hi Rises On US Dime?
Tucker Carlson says our “homeless crisis is a symptom of society collapsing” as permanent tent towns housing “addicts & bums” infest once beautiful big city parks & more lately we're seeing permanently subsidized hi-rises for the homeless with breathtaking scenic views on taxpayers’ dime.
Does Tucker exaggerate? He argued: “If you live in the US, you may have noticed many of our public spaces have become permanent homeless encampments. You see trash-filled tents blotting out what were once green & tidy public parks. You step over vagrants drooling, unconscious on the steps of train stations on the way to work. You watch as junkies smoke meth w/o any embarrassment & yell at pedestrians...” The Fox host explains how pro bono lawyers at Latham & Watkins laid the legal basis for this urban nightmare along with the blessing of liberal 9th Circuit Appeals Court & a US Supreme Court when dominated by progressives. In Martin v Boise, these lib advocates would all but order cities to not only “decriminalize” homelessness but to “house” homeless, no matter who they were or how much it cost. Now, Tucker noted, NY, SF, Austin & other cities are using “BILLIONS” in taxpayer money to not only underwrite homeless camps on public land, but to rent, buy or build high rises for them, some ala “stunning views [eg] of the Space Needle & Puget Sound.”
Is Tucker's scenario also playing out in DC in view of the Potomac & Washington Monument? Filthy encampments not only dot the nation’s capital but recently DC officials are paying as much as $3,000 per month per person or family to live in existing hi rises for however long it takes to get them a permanent home. The new hi risers aren't "drooling" or "addicts" on meth or else they wouldn't pass the rigid application process. But, as Tucker suggested, the “real time reality” may be that “permanent home” for such generationally-impoverished yet perpetually subsidized folks ... who can be counted on to forever vote for you know who ... is the one they are now living in on taxpayers’ dime, whether it be in a park or on Park Ave. Tell us there's a better way? That someone gets OFF the merry-go-round?
