If Omicron Weakens Will ‘New Normal’ Be Normalcy?

Encouraging news if in a mixed way was WSJ’s “Studies Help Show Why Omicron Is Mild, Spreads Fast”. Most of us want to follow the science so long as the messengers like Dr. F don’t humor us with condescension or half-truths … even some of Joe’s advisers are finally pushing him to ease up on “Operation Shutdown Covid.”

There’s certainly little doubt now that Omicron has become the “dominant” Covid strain as the newspaper in a separate article called the 7 days as “the Week America Is Calling In Sick.” Yet, it adds “the threat posed by the Omicron variant has now come into sharper focus, with recent clinical data and laboratory studies lending support to early reports suggesting that it is milder [if] more transmissible than other variants …”

You’d think even the most die-hard progressives under the Biden presidency who had pushed for draconian lockdown measures in what turns out to be a futile attempt to “shut down” the pandemic would relent … and some now are as the MSM (including the NY Times] reports Mr. Biden’s “Former transition advisors press [him] to Change Covid-19 strategy [to] ‘live with it, not [try to] shut it down.’” Ironically, that’s pretty much what President Trump had urged well over a year ago. As the Times asked, is it time for a “new normal” in which Big Brother treats us like adults? Will Mr. Biden ever admit he never knew what he was doing in changing our diapers in the first place?
