Incredible Expanding Welfare State & Tax Hike Next?

The WSJ editors are fretting over “The Covid Welfare State” thanks to the Democrats’ $1.9 trillion spending bill that “provides a guaranteed income unlinked to work.” And, perhaps they should as they list the bill’s incredible laundry list of government aka give away expenditures proving their point. More on that in a moment. But, maybe more to the point, is the “incredible tax increase coming our way.”

Is there anyone with a brain who doesn’t see that Uncle Sam’s various COVID relief measures now approach $10 trillion? And that Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is promising that “more help will be on the way,” if needs be? And that SOMEBODY is going to have to pay for all this in the end? And that it ain’t gonna be Chuck Schumer?

As the WSJ noted in part, Congress’ latest largess includes the following payouts in the coming weeks alone: Enhanced unemployment payments, ironically, extended past Labor Day; $1,400 to individuals earning up to $75K & $2,800 to couples with $150K income, plus $1,400 dependent including kids in college; $3,600 in fully refundable tax credit for each child under 6 & $3K for those up to age 17 so that “people could collect more from the child tax credit than they pay in taxes & even earn in wages. It goes on. Bigger dependent care tax credit, more Obamacare subsidies to keep its otherwise bankrupt exchanges afloat; and even turning “the earned income tax credit into an unearned income tax credit.” Credible or Incredible. Watch the incredible expanding national debt turn into an incredible expanding tax bill…sooner or later?
