Is Biden’s Legacy “Et tu, Brutus?”

Shakespeare couldn’t have written Joe Biden’s main legacy as one of “mental decline.” What a shame, since unmitigated pride & gall came before the old man’s fall. So did “partisan allegiance” when it got to the point of “elder abuse”.

That pretty much sums up Jason Riley’s assessment of the Biden presidency as the New Year approaches while the end of an administration comes to a bitter end shortly thereafter. The WSJ columnist couldn’t resist calling out one more time the MSM progressives & Democrat politicians whom we now know either unwittingly or intentionally covered up Mr. Biden’s precipitous mental decline during his four years in the White House and especially while insisting he was going to be “sharp as a tack” for yet another 4 years. Wrote Riley: “Perhaps no one beclowned himself more than MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough, who offered a blanket denunciation of anyone who dared to challenge the president’s soundness of mind & ability to serve a second term. The cable host explained that he’d known Mr. Biden for years & that the president had, if anything, grows sharper with age. ‘I’m about to tell you the truth,’ he told his viewers. ‘And f*** you if you can’t handle the truth. This version of Biden intellectually, analytically, is the best Biden ever.’”

Of course, the Biden that the entire country saw in the debate with Trump was the best Biden characterization of a duck hit over the head by a hunter & carried in the mouth of a cocker spaniel. But don’t forget, Riley reminds, how his politician & staff “enablers” kept propping Biden up as he shuffled to & from meetings at which he’d sometimes be caught on film nodding. In fact, Riley suggests, the enablers did such a thorough job of covering up Biden’s advancing infirmities that the insulated Biden himself believed it; for instance, when he insisted to interviewer George Stephanopoulos that the national polls showing him trailing Trump were really revealing a “toss up.” Riley concludes with a Q of his own: “When does partisan allegiance become elder abuse?”
